JAMES PAUL PRATT HAS ARRIVED

Monday afternoon at around 3:30 pm, Karla called me at work and told me that she had had a few contractions.  She told me she thought they were going away, but despite her insisting, I decided to go home just incase.  By the time I got home the contractions were 5 minutes apart, but she was still convinced they would go away.  We decided to go to the hospital to just make sure.  By the time we got her checked in it was 6:00 pm and her contractions were one minutes apart.  The doctor did everything she could to stall and make time for Karla to get the epidural.  Once the epidural was in they broke her water and James popped out 1 1/2 minutes later.  Mother and baby are both doing great.

Thomas the hockey player

Thomas got a hockey stick for Christmas and has really taken to it. It will probably be the cause of a lot of broken furniture in the future, but we have loved watching him play with it.

"It's the Holiday Season"

Christmas was definitely a memorable one this year. David and I got to fly out to Utah on the 2oth and spend almost two weeks out there together with my family (he worked from Utah on some of the days), but it was an activity-filled break! Before we left for Utah, we celebrated our own Christmas. The gift Thomas was able to grasp the most was surprisingly the hockey stick and ball we got for him. He caught on immediately and started going after the ball with the stick...we're sure he's going places! Also, what seemed like the first time, I surprised David with a gift. Something I thought I'd never be the one to buy, but that just goes to show how much I love him, right? Anyhow, I got him a T.V. and he was VERY surprised and excited!

While in Utah we got to perform for a rest home and don't worry, we sang "We are the Merry Christmas Toys" just like we did when we were kids. David didn't end up singing "The Christmas Song" at this rest home, but he sang it (solo) at a different rest home we performed at in NH - I literally cried I was laughing so hard. Seriously one of the greatest performances I have ever witnessed! Oh, and he even winked at all the residents during the climax of his song...just classic!

Christmas party with the Jensen side. Dodee and Papa sure did a lot of work to make it a great party and it was so fun seeing everyone.

Our traditional dress-up for Christmas Eve. We were priviledged to have Courtney and Christian (my sister and brother-in-law) join us. This is all of us waiting for dad to get a new battery right after we had already been posing for the photo.

My favorite picture - Laura had some kind of reaction in her eyes and looked really pretty! (Maybe a bit stoned, but she just embraced it)

Ice-skating at my Uncle Wayne's house for the Hammond party. My uncle's pond is beautiful and absolutely perfect for skating.

Thomas got to decorate his first gingerbread man and loved it!

Gingerbread house decorating contest...Lizzie and I were on the same team and practically took state.

New Years was an absolute blast! Everyone had arranged their own activities to have the family participate in for the entire night. We mentioned to Mariam and Liz that they could invite some friends if they wanted to and the next thing we knew our little family party turned into a massive party...which everyone enjoyed! Highlights were: Dad's bingo, David's minute-game competitions, around-the-world ping pong, dance add on, and some intense spoons.

A last minute decision was to drive down to AZ with Laura and stay there for part of a week. I was able to hang out with my friend Kristal for a couple of days, hung out with the family and even got to be a part of Lilly's big birthday party. This brain-looking pinata was the first one I have ever made. (I'm pretty sure all the kids were scared of it when we hung it up for them to hit and it didn't help that 10 minutes before the party started, Jensen; my nephew, started hitting it and destroyed it so it looked pretty pathetic) It still was a fun party though. Jensen and Thomas drove this little car around the park for a while...Thomas was in heaven! It was quite a blessing to have such a wonderful trip!

Thanksgiving

I really wish we had taken more pictures of our Thanksgiving cause it was a blast! Thanksgiving morning a bunch of us ran the Turkey Trot (for some a walk simply because it was that crowded!) but I was way impressed with all the grandkids that ran it. Then, our actual Thanksgiving feast was out at the barn with about 75 people. The barn just feels like the right place to have that dinner. As always, everything was beautiful and tasted wonderful! Throughout the week we got to ride the ATV's and dirt-bikes at the farm (which was my favorite part) and the greatest thing to do was stand up on the ATV's, pretend like your on the movie "Australia" and round up the herds of cattle and ponies they have up there. A couple of times the bulls would turn on you, which was pretty scary, but seriously what an adventure it was! The whole family went to a "Bounce" place (this is the only way I know how to describe this) and I've never seen kids play so hard that their hair is soaked from sweat (Will) - pretty amazing! We had a massive race car night and ended the week by attending a temple session together. All in all, a very memorable Thanksgiving simply because we got to spend so much time with the family!
One of our Christmas traditions has been to take one night to search high and low for a nice Christmas decoration. Turns out Pottery Barn is way to expensive so we went to the Christmas Tree Store and chose a Snowman (not wearing a top-hat)...he broke on the way out and luckily we found these sweet knitted stockings! I love them and love that they were only $2.99 each. Merry Christmas to us!

Biking the Charles with the Jensens

So we felt very privileged to have the Jensen clan come down to Boston and bike along the Charles river with us! It is an absolutely beautiful bike ride that allows you to see all of Boston from a distance.

On our way back we stopped at an incredible park that had a zip-line and this huge spider-web looking structure with a massive slide.
This is me taking a picture of Thomas going down the slide and it's also a picture of me forgetting to catch our 1-year old on a very steep slide. (It didn't turn out too well)
We played some football and then stopped in Harvard for some pizza at Pinocchio's. It was quite the day!

HALLOWEEN

For Halloween Karla, Thomas, and I went with some friends to Beacon Hill to go trick-or-treating. All the roads in the area are closed and kids are running everywhere. All the alleys were decorated and everyone was very into the spirit of things.

Lion, Witch, and The Wardrobe.

I got a lot of "coming out of the closet" jokes. I'm not sure how I failed to anticipate that.

Its hard to tell in the dark costumes, but Karla looked awesome, from the hat to the totally witchy shoes, her outfit rocked.
